  • Ruth Ann DiLena , our Political Action Committee representative, presented her report.  The PAC meeting was held March 8, 2012 at the SCCEA headquarters.  Although the union has always made donations to political candidates, there was a $5000 limit imposed by the Board of Elections.  The Union thought a PAC account could strengthen our union as there would be no limit to our assistance, enabling   us to help politicians that are sympathetic to our causes.  A new lobbyist, Bob Unger, was hired and he comes highly recommended.  The Union sees the new PAC account and the new lobbyist as an extremely positive move forward towards getting our voice heard.  The retirees are seen as an integral part of the union process.  When a show of force is needed, retirees can be counted on to travel to Albany with the union and represent our membership.  President Manning also stated that if any benefit is ever changed, it will affect the entire union membership as a whole and retirees will never be singled out.  Ruth Ann will be meeting every month with the PAC.  George thanks Ruth Ann for her report and a Job well done.
